VIRGINIA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION AWARD – 2009
In gratitude for being “among the first on the ground when disaster strikes and[…]one of the last to leave after the cleanup," the Virginia Emergency Management Association presented OBI President Bill Horan with their annual award honoring a nonprofit organization, government group or business for helping emergency management within the commonwealth of Virginia.
“BELOVED FRIEND OF EL SALVADOR” AWARD – 2009
In recognition of OBI’s ongoing efforts to help the people of El Salvador through medical campaigns, disaster recovery, hunger relief, micro-farm projects and more, the government of El Salvador bestowed upon OBI President Bill Horan the highest honor given to foreigners, the “Beloved Friend of El Salvador” Award.
29th Annual Telly Award, Silver – 2008
Each year, The Telly Awards honors the best in local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as video and film productions. In the charitable, non-for-profit category, OBI was awarded the Silver Telly, the highest honor, for video coverage on Darfur's refugee crisis.
The NonProfit Times "Power & Influence Top 50" – 2007 Recognizing Operation Blessing President Bill Horan and OBI as one of the top Hurricane Katrina relief agencies whose timely relief efforts earned them the slogan, "doing the Lord's work...this afternoon."
Globe Asia’s Most Influential Women in Indonesia – 2007 Non Ruwang, Director of Operation Blessing Indonesia, was recognized as one of the (top 100) most powerful and influential women in Indonesia for OBI’s social and humanitarian relief efforts.
"NGO of the Year" Peace Award - 2007
For the second year in a row, Operation Blessing Philippines has been awarded the "NGO of the Year" award by the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The award was given in recognition of the humanitarian aid OBI provided to over 200,000 people in areas such as medical missions, disaster relief operations, water and sanitation projects, community transformation and livelihood programs, and educational activities.
"NGO of the Year" Peace Award - 2006
Operation Blessing Philippines was awarded the 2006 Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) of the Year Award by the 8th Infantry Division of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in recognition of OBI’s humanitarian efforts in areas such as health care, feeding programs, education and disaster relief.
"NGO of the Year" Peace Award - 2003 On December 19, Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Narciso Abaya presented the AFP “NGO of the Year for Peace Efforts” award to Operation Blessing Philippines. The award commended OBI for bravery in launching medical, disaster relief and community development missions that promoted peace, healing, unity and restoration in communities scarred by armed rebellion and terrorism.
"NGO of the Year" Peace Award - 2002 On Dec. 21, 2002, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) presented Operation Blessing with the "NGO of the Year for Peace Efforts" award, specifically citing 12 humanitarian missions conducted by Operation Blessing that served 66,049 people in 47 remote communities throughout the Philippines.
