| OBI's German partner Humedica is providing emergency medical relief to families affected by the devastating cyclone. |
DHAKA – Just days after a devastating cyclone killed nearly 3,500 people, OBI has linked arms with German partner Humedica to help support their emergency medical teams on the ground in Bangladesh.
Teams are also working with Humedica’s in-country partner, Koinonia Bangladesh, to assess disaster relief needs for several million people who have been affected by this disaster.
Operation Blessing is helping to fund relief efforts that include plans for mobile medical clinics as well as a distribution of food and non-food items such as blankets, clothes and hygiene products to several thousand families in the devastated Barguna district.
According to reports, this is one of the worst disasters to hit the poverty-stricken region since 1991, when a cyclone and subsequent storm surge killed more than 140,000 people.
