    New Creations Expands Outreach

Fort Wayne, Indiana -- New Creations' floor temporarily resembled that of a salon while children waited to get their free hair cut. As a part of Operation Blessing's Hunger Strike Force network, New Creations normally specializes in providing individual and family assistance.

Text: Suffering from physical problems, Jennifer finds it difficult to work full-time. The financial burden weighs down on this licensed beautician. She's a 36-year-old single parent of five children! Looking for assistance, Jennifer recently came into New Creations' door. Moved by her situation, founder Kathy Davis gave the mother two hundred pounds of food, hygiene items and clothing. The supplies would be enough for a couple of weeks. Desiring to help other families in similar situations who could not afford the "extras", Jennifer volunteered to serve other parents by cutting their children's hair. Occasionally still receiving support from New Creations, this determined woman is on her way to self-sufficiency.

Through its network of over forty organizations, New Creations is helping more than three hundred families in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio with food assistance every month! In order to accomplish this feat, New Creations relies on the generosity of local businesses including bakeries and Operation Blessing. "The Hunger Strike Force has helped to broaden the areas of outreach and bring aid as well as increase the diversity of balanced nutrition," commented Kathy. "They also add some of those costly luxury items such as candy, soft drinks and cookies."

With the addition of nineteen new volunteers, programs have expanded to include delivering food to shut-ins, taking seniors to doctor appointments, and teaching grandparents how to live on limited budgets while raising grandchildren. Within the last six months, they have partnered with Big Catholic Charities in helping to settle Russian immigrant families into the community. Families receive help finding housing, jobs, basic furniture, food, and language classes.

Operation Blessing's network continues to expand and bring life-saving assistance to countless men, women and children around the world. We can only continue to do this with your faithful support.
