Parents Make Ends Meet with Operation Blessing
It
is common to see palm trees and experience beautiful weather in Santa
Ana, California. Unfortunately for the past twenty-five years our local
outreach center Obras De Amor has also experienced firsthand the great
need of those living in this paradise. Led by Eric Adams, volunteers give
groceries to more than 60,000 people every month! Struggling parents like
Jennifer depend on the truckloads of healthy food, hygiene products and
school supplies that our Hunger Strike Force delivers.
Jennifer has visited Obras De Amor several times this
year. As a last resort, the mother of three comes to pick up food for
her family during months when her husband's paycheck is stretched beyond
its' limits. He works hard as a gardener and makes less than $25,000 every
year while she stays home with the children instead of paying for expensive
daycare. They also save money by living in a garage for $500 a month.
Otherwise they would have to pay $1,000 for a one-bedroom apartment.
During her visits to the center, Jennifer is relieved
to know her children will have something to eat until they receive the
next paycheck. A volunteer’s welcoming smile ensures her this is
a place where she can turn to in her hour of need.
Wash Out Hunger Across America
Grab soap, a bucket and hose, and head for the driveway! After you, your
family and neighbors have washed everything in the driveway, donate the
money that you would have spent at the car wash to our hunger relief program.
Or, if you want to save yourself the trouble, just forget about the car
and give a gift. Hungry families like Jennifer's will thank you!
$25 is all it takes to help provide a family
of four with a month’s worth of food. As your family has
fun playing with the hose, you will be enabling another family to eat.
