Laos is landlocked between Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Rugged mountains
and thick forests cover this Communist state, inhibiting even a basic
railroad system from being built. Electricity and telephones are only
found in a few urban areas. Economic improvement is just beginning, so
much of the population still struggles under the heavy burden of poverty.
Those living in rural villages are some of the hardest hit. They try to
make it without access to basic medical care and clean water.
Operation Blessing sponsored programs are giving people the opportunity
to lead a healthier and more educated lifestyle by:
- Tending The Sick -- Mobile clinics consisting of
both medical and dental care are conducted in villages throughout the
country. Many receive de worming medicine and lice treatments. Each
patient is also given basic healthcare education information. Our medical
volunteers share the latest training techniques with their Laotian counterparts.
- Equipping for Life -- We not only assist people in
times of crisis, but also help them overcome forces that keep them in
the vicious cycle of poverty through our Living Waters program.
Impoverished Laotians living in rural places do not have access to clean
water. Through Living Waters, individuals can go to the village's newly
dug well when they need water for cooking, drinking and cleaning. We
also teach the community hygienic practices and the importance of sanitation.
Join us in breaking the cycle of suffering around the world. Please give
a gift today!
