Ukraine
has gone through a massive economic overhaul since gaining independence
from the former Soviet Union in 1991. Since 1920 it was reliant
on Russia for energy supplies and its black soil supplied one-fourth
of the Soviet agricultural output. Now, in the midst of freedom,
there isn't enough infrastructure in the system to adequately feed
the elderly or children who are orphaned or disabled.
Operation Blessing sponsored programs are giving Ukrainians of
all ages the opportunity to lead a healthier and more prosperous
life by:
- Providing Relief -- We help bring aid to those
who are victims of disaster and poverty.
a. Soup Kitchen: Countless elderly pensioners, poor families and
disabled people try to exist on $7-11 every month. There often
isn't money for even one meal a day, so our team makes and serves
free hot meals to the hungry in a soup kitchen Monday-Friday each
week.
b. Family Care: Unemployment and small harvests leave many rural
families struggling to make ends meet. Our shipments of food,
clothing and other essentials give them the help and hope needed
to keep families together and children alive.
- Equipping for Life --Operation Blessing not
only helps people in times of crisis, but also assists them in
breaking free from the vicious cycle of poverty.
a. Back-To-School: Every year we prepare hundreds of boys and
girls living in poor households or in orphanages for school by
giving them school supplies and back packs.
b . Medical Support: Tons of medical supplies and equipment are
distributed in under equipped clinics and hospitals. This allows
medical professionals to provide proper treatment to their patients.
In addition, clothing, food, and other basic necessities are given
to those in need, including the elderly, orphans and large families.
Join us in breaking the cycle of suffering around the world. Please
give a gift today! |
As much as she loves all 300 orphans, Berdyansk Orphanage’s headmistress
Galina Miechiova dreams all of them will be adopted some day. Through
tears, she told the OB Ukraine team, “Every time a child is taken
away [adopted], the others always ask me, ‘When will it be my turn?
Who will come for me?’" |
